Sildar Hallwinter

Human warrior, currently Gundren's escort

Sildar Hallwinter is a kind-hearted human male of nearly fifty years. He stands tall at average human height, and carries himself with the bearing of a soldier. He has short, dark hair and light skin, and his face is covered with scars.

Sildar typically carries a longsword and heavy crossbow, and wears chain mail that he keeps in good repair.

After being captured by the Cragmaw Goblins, his equipment was taken from him and sent to Cragmaw Castle along with Gundren Rockseeker.

Sildar is a retired soldier and sellsword hailing from Neverwinter. He has had a long career in the military world, and holds a place of honor in the famous griffon cavalry of the great city of Waterdeep. He is a known agent of the Lords’ Alliance, a group of allied political powers concerned with mutual security and prosperity. Members of the order ensure the safety of cities and other settlements by proactively eliminating threats by any means, while bringing honor and glory to their leaders and homelands.

Sildar met entrepreneur Gundren Rockseeker in Neverwinter and agreed to accompany him back to Phandalin, intending to also attend to some matters of his own.

Relation to the Party

Sildar met the party briefly during their discussion with Gundren, before setting out to Phandalin a few days ahead of the caravan.

The party later discovered Gundren’s and Sildar’s horses dead on the Triboar Trail, an apparent goblin ambush. After tracking down the goblins to their cave hideout, the party discovered Sildar, badly beaten and injured. They successfully rescued him from the cave.

After the goblin threat had been quelled, Sildar related the tale of Phandelver’s Pact and that the Rockseeker brothers had discovered the location of the lost Wave Echo Cave. He also revealed that The Black Spider had sent orders to capture and retrieve Gundren and his map. He believes that Gundren (along with the map), was sent to the leader of the goblins at Cragmaw Castle.

The party agreed to safely escort Sildar back to Phandalin, and he in turn paid them 10 gold pieces each for their services.
